5 months

Geneva is 5 months now! Not too much new this month, but she loves blowing raspberries and drooling/spitting. She is still calm and content and sleeping through the night (knock on wood). She's our little angel. Ok and now for the pictures/videos.

Halloween at our parent-baby group at the hospital.
Geneva is the skeleton being attacked by/attacking the giraffes.
Here is a video of the 3-6 month babies positioned for their photo op. It was so hilarious seeing them all wiggling and squirming! And there was almost no crying! I think they were all too confused by the costumes and all the flash photography.

Taking a nap with daddy

In her snow suit getting ready for a walk!

Tummy-to-tummy time

The flash is a little weird on Geneva's face, but the drool/spit-up down her shirt was too amazing to pass up.
We love making her walk. It's just funny imagining a tiny baby like her walking around.

Wearing an antique dress from her great grandma Marion.

Fell asleep while holding her toy.

Matching with Helena at church. Geneva is 2 months older, but they are now about the same size!

She loves to stand!

So many toys! Ah!

Dressed as Santa for a Saturday night date.

4 months

Geneva is growing so much! She is now 13 lbs 5.5 oz (25-50%) and 24.5 inches long (50-75%). She is a generally happy baby and she loves kicking her legs. She started rolling over consistently last week, right AFTER her 4 month doctor appointment of course. She has a golden smile and a screechy laugh, a little bit of light brown/dark blonde hair, and scrumptious leg rolls.

The first time her hair was sticking up
Pretty girl, always playing with her hands
Drool
Turning on her side to look in the mirror in her room
With mommy! I thought it would be good to get some of us together.  Thank goodness for arm shots.

Bath time. She just kicks her legs like a psycho when she gets in. I'm not sure I'd call it happy kicking, more just "what the heck is going on" kicking.
She started holding on to the bar whenever we'd put her in this rocker.
Why is it that these little things are just the cutest thing ever to new parents?

Eating her hand. So tasty!

All bundled and ready to go on a walk!

Still got it

Henry's still rapping (most famous rap found here), but these days his freestyle raps are usually aimed at a bit of a younger audience. I happened to catch this one on video last night so I thought I'd share. It makes me smile every time. Enjoy!

Three Months

Happy 3 months, little baby! I've been concerned about not keeping up a journal or anything these last few months, but then I realized that I've been blogging about all the cuteness. So sorry if these posts get long, but I'm using it as a way to capture all the memories now.

We are still enamored with our Little Miss. I'm trying to use her name more instead of just calling her "Baby" so that someday she'll figure out who she is.

Geneva is a really easy-going baby. She has slept through the night for over a month now and we are very grateful. She goes down easily for naps on her own, and really doesn't cry very much. Henry mentioned this, thinking maybe something was wrong, and then the same day she had a breakdown at Target, proving to us and to all those at the store that she does in fact have a healthy pair of lungs.

She smiles a lot, but doesn't really laugh, mostly just an occasional squawk of joy. Geneva also makes really cute coo-ing noises (check out the videos) that slowly disintegrate into cries if I don't pick her up.

This has been my first full month (almost) at home with her by myself and it's been just great. It's nice to be able to see every little change that happens to her. She's just started grabbing for toys and sticking them in her mouth. Sometimes I'm not sure if it's on purpose, or if it just happened to get in the way as her hand was going towards her mouth...

Now for the pictures and a few videos:

Our daily conversation.

She actually does like her Dad despite her look of disinterest here.
Hanging out with her friend Helena.
Someday they'll acknowledge each other... and I'll get a picture of it!

This is the face she makes whenever we go on walks and go underneath trees.

Bundled up ridiculously well for our walk to church.
Socks on hands are now all the rage, in case you didn't know.

Octo-baby at the Seattle Aquarium

Being cute. At least she appreciates my silly faces now.
Just wait til you're 13... hahaha.

Some serious thoughts. Especially at 35 seconds... she gets loud!

It's really hard to get a picture where her legs are in focus.

I like this one because it looks like she's doing a heel click.
We just need to photoshop in a scene from Newsies or something.

Cute smiley girl. She has really long eyelashes... and almost no hair :)

Enjoying the Bumbo at Aunt Becca's.

Paternity Leave

Henry was lucky enough to get time off for paternity leave (thanks Microsoft!), so we had a chance to do some fun things. We did a lot around the Seattle area, and took a trip to Arizona over Labor Day weekend.

Here are some highlights:
  • Getting pooped on by a bird in a park in Bellevue. It also got on my library book! Oops!
  • Dim sum in the International District
  • Conveyor belt sushi in Bellevue - Henry is obsessed, but Geneva was really fussy the day after I ate here, so I'm not sure if she likes sushi
  • Drive up Steven's Pass - we ate at a great burger place called Zeke's... twice
  • Reptile Zoo - featuring a two-headed turtle and albino alligator
  • Both sets of grandparents visiting at the same time! Wowsie!
  • Geneva's blessing - she looked like a little doll in her dress
  • Spraining my ankle by walking in downtown Redmond (which led to us cancelling our Olympic Peninsula trip and all plans associated with hiking, very sad indeed)
  • Trader Joe's sandwiches... yum
  • Seeing family in Arizona - Geneva got to meet lots of people
  • BBQs in our back yard with friends
  • Enjoying the sunshine! It's been a great summer!
And here's a ton of pictures chronicling our time:

Exploring local parks

With Grandma in Bellevue Downtown Park
Deception Falls - the first of many family portraits with the arm shot
Bellevue Botanical Gardens - another arm shot
Henry was skeptical at first, but ended up loving it. Go there!

Baby's New Trick

So this has only happened twice tonight .... so it might still be a fluke. We'll see if she can repeat it tomorrow. But I'm pretty proud of myself for catching it on video, so I had to post it. Enjoy! It's really short so you should be able to make it to the end :)

And just for kicks, here is Geneva enjoying tummy time with her friends. We really gotta get out more.
